Color Is Having a Moment
Perhaps you’ve noticed the stream of pink couches and teal upholstered beds in your news feed. After years of greige, color is having a moment.
Working with bold color is a great way to make a statement, and right now it’s easy to do. There are a few things to consider before you jump in, such as where, how, and how often. If you’ve always wanted an emerald green sofa, it may be the perfect time to take advantage of the ease in finding one to replace that neutral settee in your living room. Make sure that the emerald is the focal point of the room, because nothing is going to compete with that color, and if you’re prone to following design trends, be prepared to replace or recover this piece in two years when emerald has finished its reign.
If you’re looking to add pop in smaller doses, or with less investment, choose easily replaceable pieces for big splashes of color --paint an accent wall fuchsia, hang some curtain panels in a bright print or add throw pillows in brilliant tones in a few key spots – rather than going with more permanent endeavors such as counter tops or tile.
Think about your budget, how often you want to update or replace your furnishings, and weigh these factors in to your design choices. Then get creative. And enjoy the moment.
